A growing, Houston-based professional services firm, G&A Partners is currently seeking a HR Advisor to join its team at the corporate office or G&A satellite office.

 

Summary

This position provides effective, efficient, and professional HR advice, guidance, and support through various remote contact channels to clients and worksite employees. Leads the implementation of HR practices and policies and ensures that all advice is given consistent with statutory and regulatory compliance standards and best practices. Act as an advisor to clients concerning matters of compliance to include but not limited to: employee relations, employee complaint processes, investigative procedures, administrative (EEOC, FEP, DOL, etc.) charge responses, interpretation and application regarding employment regulations such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Sexual Harassment, performance management, severance agreements, etc. In addition, this position plans and administers policies relating to all phases of transactional and strategic human resources activities in support of clients. This position requires knowledge of employment law and robust experience in providing and administering transactional as well as experience in strategic HR support. The position further requires excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for handling basic to complex HR questions, research and retrieve information, document work in our case management system, and respond in a timely manner using web, email, telephone, fax, and video resources.
  • Collaborate with peers to troubleshoot complex issues and provide a consistent service of support to clients. Using company procedures, policies, knowledge management, and other reference materials, answers and resolves end-to-end employee life cycle HR policies, practices, and services inquiries with timely, accurate, and professional responses.
  • Act as advisor to clients and to other G&A stakeholders concerning all matters of HR compliance including but not limited to employee relations, employee complaint processes, investigative procedures, administrative (EEOC, FEP, DOL, etc.) charge responses, interpretation, and application regarding employment regulations such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Sexual Harassment, performance management, severance agreements, etc.
  • Perform quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and thoroughness of all HR services delivered to clients including workplace investigations, severance agreements, documentation of disciplinary actions, responses to administrative agencies charges and claims. Resolve clients’ and worksite employees’ complaints and answer questions regarding policies and procedures.

Other Duties:

  • Provide necessary training to G&A employees and clients concerning HR policies and procedures, employment laws and regulations, investigation of employee complaints, performance management, and other areas of HR compliance.
  • Coordinate, assist and conduct investigations as assigned. 
  • Professionally represent G&A in person or through video conversations that may include difficult conversations with clients in navigating best practices and business necessities. 
  • Work directly with G&A’s legal support team to respond to HR compliance request and data analysis for litigation, investigations, audits, and other legal and regulatory procedures. 
  • Provide clients and employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Conduct research, compile, and prepare reports, manuals, correspondence, or other information required by clients, management, or governmental agencies.
  • Identifying and recommending opportunities for improved service delivery and new transformation opportunities.
  • Responsible for the management, communication, necessary revisions and updates to HR policies and procedures as it relates to client compliance.
  • Identify areas of process improvement and potential liability regarding HR compliance and make recommendations to correct.  

Qualifications

Education: 

  • A Bachelor's degree preferred. 

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 plus years of progressive experience in Human Resources with robust HR compliance experience.• Multi-state HR experience required.  
  • California compliance experience helpful. 
  • Proficiency in Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Office suite is required.
  • Knowledge of Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of Prism or related HRIS preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR federal laws and regulations.
  • Desire to continually enhance and expand HR knowledge.
  • Ability to easily switch between a wide variety of tasks and balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and in a friendly manner verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to quickly learn several complex web-based systems.
  • Desire to work as a team with a result driven approach.

Certifications/Licenses:


• PHR/SHRM-CP or SPHR/SHRM-SCP required if hired with less than 20 years of experience if hired without certification advisor will be expected to earn certification within one year of employment.
