A growing, Houston-based professional services firm, G&A Partners is currently seeking a Retirement Plan Consultant, Compliance to join its team at the corporate office or G&A satellite office.

Summary

The Retirement Plan Consultant, Compliance is responsible for ensuring the G&A Multiple Employer and Pooled Employer plans adhere to all relevant compliance regulations, working directly with our third-party vendor to provide expert guidance to clients, while also ensuring the plans are set up and administered in accordance with compliance requirements as set forth in applicable summary plan descriptions, as well as regulatory requirements with G&A Partners.

Responsibilities

  • Administers 401(k) plan set-ups for multiple employers and ensures compliance with applicable laws.
  • Conducts meetings with clients to discuss ADP/ACP testing, top-heavy testing, cross-testing and other related non-discrimination testing results for client.
  • Monitor and develop processes for 415 contribution limit regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Provide expert advice to clients on corrective measures for failed compliance tests.
  • Stay current with regulatory changes and industry trends affecting retirement plan compliance, keeping the team informed.
  • Review plan documents, amendments, summary plan descriptions (SPDs) for compliance.
  • Conduct plan audits and reviews to identify and resolve compliance issues.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, plan sponsors, and other stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of compliance requirements.
  • Support and train junior staff on compliance processes and best practices.
  • Discusses strategies for enrollment meetings, schedules, and conducts meetings accordingly either onsite or via online training.
  • Coordinate with third party vendors on required compliance notices to client plan sponsors and plan participants.
  • Perform intensive audits to demonstrate the employer’s compliance with federal guidelines, expediting the results in conformance with IRS (Internal Revenue Service) deadlines.
  • Administers true up contributions and associated employer contributions and communicates with the accounting department to ensure proper invoicing to clients for true up amount.
  • Administers mass transactional activities to retirement plans to include, true-up payments, K-1 funding, annual match payments, plan corrections.
  • Coordinate regulatory plan changes with third-party vendors.
  • Interfaces with third-party vendor(s) and other departments internally within the company and externally with the clients regarding compliance of retirement plans.
  • Oversee and assist auditors annually in the preparation of Form 5500 filings.
  • Prepares reports of 401(k) employer testing results to review with upper management

Other Duties:

  • Travel may be required for new plan enrollments as needed. Must be able to travel 25% or more during peak times of the year.
  • Performs all assigned job duties in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and standard practices.
  • Attends departmental and company meetings, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or 5 years' experience in the defined contribution industry.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in plan design, compliance, and ADP/ACP/Top Heavy Testing.
  • PEO (Professional Employer Organization) experience.
  • Multiple Employer and Pooled Employer 401k Plan experience.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • ASPPA, ERPA, or other Retirement Plan licensures are a plus, but not required.
  • ERPA, or other Retirement Plan licensures are a plus, but not required.
