A growing, Houston-based professional services firm, G&A Partners is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its team at the corporate office located in Houston, TX.

Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring that all payroll related activities for their assigned base of clients are conducted timely, accurately and in compliance with State and Federal laws as well as individual client requirements on the isolved HCM platform. Act as mentor to other payroll team members.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews submitted time data, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Assists clients with managing employee information in the payroll system.
  • Assists clients with verification of attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments, and post information onto designated records.
  • Processes payroll. Including coordination with assigned clients, intake of data, audit of information for accuracy, printing and shipping checks.
  • Enters data into the payroll platform, or assist clients as needed.
  • Assists clients with recording employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations, to maintain and update payroll records.
  • Processes and issues employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
  • Compiles employee time, production, and payroll data from time sheets and other records.
  • Issues and records adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases.
  • Provides information to client managers on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans, and collective agreement provisions.
  • Conducts user training on the isolved HCM platform and standard operating procedures.
  • Provides user support on the isolved HCM platform to client managers.

Other Duties:

  • Keeps informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process.
  • Compiles statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts, and submits them to appropriate departments.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and professional level communication skills.
  • Prepares reports as needed for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Tracks relevant work and time spent in our CRM tool.
  • Assists with external audits as it pertains to payroll.
  • Trains and mentors new hires as well as provide support.
  • Provide payroll related consulting to clients.
  • Acts as payroll subject matter expert for clients.
  • Utilizes judgement and analysis to advise clients on potential areas of process improvement or other general improvements.
  • Provides progress reports to appropriate team members.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all client and employee information.
  • Self-reports 100% of all errors, issues, client dissatisfaction or perceived errors within 24 hours of occurrence to immediate Manager and Director.
  • Completes duties and assumes responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

Education:

  • • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Skills & Experience:

  • 1 to 3 years of payroll experience is required.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Isolved HCM platform experience is preferred

The starting range represents the low and high end of the G&A Partners’ range for this position. Actual wages will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of G&A’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include commissions, annual bonuses, and program specific rewards.
