A growing, Houston-based professional services firm, G&A Partners is currently seeking a Manager, Retirement Services - Ongoing to join its team at the corporate office or G&A satellite office, or in a fully remote capacity.

Summary

The Manager, Retirement Services leads retirement plan operations, team performance, compliance oversight, and service delivery. This role exercises discretion and independent judgment in managing workflow, vendor and client relationships, operational controls, reporting, resources, and issue resolution to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant retirement services. The Manager partners with internal stakeholders and leadership to improve processes, support technology and service enhancements, and advance departmental and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team workflow, priorities, capacity, and service queues to ensure timely, accurate retirement services deliverables.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members through feedback, performance management, training, and quality reviews.
  • Supervise and direct the work of assigned Retirement Services team members, including assigning work, setting priorities, monitoring performance, providing coaching and feedback, and making recommendations regarding hiring, performance evaluations, corrective action, promotions, and other employment-related decisions.
  • Oversee retirement plan operations, including onboarding, administration, payroll integrations, contributions, reconciliations, and corrections.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, plan document, and company requirements through effective controls, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support plan audits, compliance testing, Form 5500 coordination, regulatory updates, and related compliance activities.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment as the escalation point and subject matter resource for complex client, vendor, participant, compliance, and operational issues.
  • Build effective relationships with clients, vendors, and internal partners, including payroll, benefits, finance, sales, and client service teams.
  • Monitor vendor performance, service levels, deliverables, and issue resolution.
  • Set and monitor departmental goals, KPIs, service standards, workforce plans, budgets, and resources.
  • Analyze performance, service trends, operational data, and retirement plan activity to inform reporting, recommendations, and leadership decisions.
  • Lead process improvement, automation, and technology initiatives that improve quality, scalability, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Support departmental and organizational growth initiatives aligned with business objectives.

Other Duties: 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to occasionally travel.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, finance, benefits administration, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Skills & Experience:

  • 7–10+ years of retirement plan administration, compliance, benefits, or related retirement services experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams, managing workflows, and overseeing operational functions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERISA, IRS, DOL, plan documents, compliance testing, and retirement plan operations.
  • Experience managing complex client, vendor, and cross-functional business relationships.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in evaluating operational issues, compliance risks, service trends, controls, reporting, and process improvement opportunities.
  • PEO, payroll, benefits administration, or professional services experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills a plus.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams required.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, benefits administration, retirement plan recordkeeping, or case management systems preferred.
  • Experience with PrismHR preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • QKA, QKC, CPC, ERPA, APA, or other retirement industry certification preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain an applicable retirement industry certification within 12 months of hire.

Salary

Starting wage is $102,000 to $135,000

The starting range represents the low and high end of the G&A Partners’ range for this position. Actual wages will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of G&A’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include commissions, annual bonuses, and program specific rewards. In addition, G&A Partners provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, flexible spending, ancillary benefits, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
